Replaces 2TB with 3TB but only sees 2TB

What do you mean by offending volume? As said, I slotted a brand new 3TB in bay 2 and only a 2TB volume was created on it. When I saw that, I removed it, deleted the partitions, re-inserted it again and still, only a 2TB volume gets created by the NAS.
