RN-102 firmware upgrade failure
If a NAS 10200 chassis is unbootable (upgrade failure), can the disks be removed and installed in another chassis or read in some other way?

Thank you for your help. We resorted to paid Netgear Tech phone support which was very helpful. It turns out the upgrade did go through the first time, but the NAS got hung up somehow. All is good now!

Hi Tom_BSS,
Welcome to the community!
Yes. You can load the disks on a similar chassis but ensure that they run the same Firmware version. If this has been met, the device will load up just fine. Can you confirm what happened to the update and whether it's done automatically (remote) or local upgrade procedure?
Kind regards,

The RN-102 was purchased with FW 6.0.8 and (in 2014) and I have never done any maintenance on it. Last night while browing through the 'dashboard' or 'control panel' it checked for upgrades and was recommended to upgrade to 6.2.5, which I started. This was from my Windows 7 PC on our small LAN, so I suppose it would be considered a local upgrade. The file(s) downloaded fine but the NAS didn't reboot properly. At some point during the process the Cat 5 cable from the router was momentarily unplugged (I was tired and doing too many things at once). The message came up that the upgrade failed, to NOT reboot and call tech support. At this point both drive lights are on steady and the power light is blinking. I have downloaded the USB Recovery tool and plan to try that process, but am now being slow and careful.
Thank you for your quick replies.
You guys are great.
