RN 314 os 6.2.2 and Plex (not updating metadata) (SOLVED)
Hello Plex guys,
I just added a ReadyNAS 314 4x3TB along my already working ReadyNAS NV+ V2.
The ReadyNAS NV+ V2 is running RAIDiator 5.3.11, it's an ARM v5 running Plex Server app for ARM 5.x - v0.9.11.7.803-87d0708.
The ReadyNAS 314 is running OS 6.2.2, and I downloaded/installed the Plex Server app for Intel 6.x - 0.9.11.7.803-87d0708.
The Movies and TV Shows that I have in the NV+ V2 have been working without a glitch. Nicely with posters and all the metadata. I have named every movie just like IMDB: Title (year) [ie. 2 Guns (2013)], and every TV Show: Show/Season/Episode Name [Big Bang Theory/Season 1/101 - Pilot]. It works perfectly.
Now, I am in need/want, to move everything into the new NAS, ReadyNAS 314 running OS 6.2.2 and Plex Intel 6.x - v0.9.11.7.803-87d0708. It seemed to installed correctly, as it said so. I didn't even try to install the included version (0.8....) I downloaded the new version, uploaded, and install it. After I installed it, I rebooted the NAS, just since I had read that most of you would suggest that. Once I did so, I opened the APPs and turned the app ON. After I did so, I opened the Plex and it quickly did the updating of the Web, which is 2.3.3. For some reason my ReadyNAS NV+ V2 says: 2.3.8. When I click on the 'Check Updates' for the Web portion, it shows that 2.3.3 is Up to Date. When I open the same screen for my NV+, it shows 2.3.8; odd.
I already removed all the movies and TV shows from the NV+ and put them on the newer, faster, 314. Erased all the Plex lists of Movies - Adults, Movies - Kids, TV Shows, Documentaries. Once I started creating the same lists on my new 314, it quickly added the movies and started going through the same cycle the NV+ did when I first did it, or every time I do a force refresh or a complete analyze. Well, it doesn't want to update a single poster, nor metadata. It is showing minutes into each show as the poster. Even if I click on 'Fix Incorrect Match', it will not find anything. I went through most of the settings, and it seems to match my NV+, so I am really lost here. I have tried uninstalling the app, installing the original that came with the NAS list; same error. I have tried installing earlier versions of the 0.9.10 and 0.9.9.14, and still, nothing. It's very annoying as I simply imagined/ASSumed that the newer ReadyNAS 314 would work without an issue, as I have read some of you have it working.
Any light my way, I would greatly appreciate it!
Anyone?
Thanks in advance!

- Alex3111AspirantI did.. no answer, thus the reason why I am asking here.. just in case someone here is running into the same problem and found a solution.
- nsneVirtuosoThere are some settings in the newer Plex versions that you might have to mess with. When upgrading from an Ultra 4 to a 314, I was seeing unexpected behavior with Plex until I made these adjustments:
In the Plex Web UI, go to Settings > Server > Agents. You'll see several options for different media. Here you should just make sure that, say, "The Movie Database" is checked and at the top of the list where applicable (sometimes only "Local Media Assets" is ticked or at the top of the list). Then run a Force Refresh under each library, not just an update. That should work.
Also: It *is* weird that you're only seeing 2.3.3 under Settings > General > Version. I'm not sure how to account for that. - Alex3111Aspirant

Thanks, but nope... I have the same 4 movies on a /Media/Movies/Test folder on both the NV+ and the 314, both running the same v0.9.11.7.803-87d0708, both connected to the same switch, router, etc., running the same IP subnet mask, gateway, the only difference is the 10.1.1.1 (NAS 314) to 10.1.1.2 (NAS NV+). Of course both Plex find the movies, and add them to the list, but the NV+ presents them nice and pretty, were the 314 only shows minutes into the movies as their posters. I did in fact disabled the Local Movie Assets, and moved them down the list, just in case.. and nothing.
This is driving me nuts! Been at it for several days now... - Alex3111Aspirant

Well, as I was replying to let you know that message from above, I noticed that my DNS were empty. I decided to hit up my Netgear WiFi router WDR3700 and get the DNS and hard-code them into my NAS 314, something I never did with my ReadyNAS Pro 6 at work, or my ReadyNAS NV+ v2 at home. Would you believe that did the trick!? After I entered the 2 DNS my cable company supply me my phone went crazy receiving emails from my NAS. From installation, to finishing the updates, to the failure of installing the Plex version that came directly with the NAS, to 48 emails that the NAS needed to send out. When I received them, I found that odd, so I did another FORCE REFRESH on that same folder... BOOM! As I am writing this it had almost finished updating all my Movies - Adult folder, which I will follow with a force refresh to the other folders in the hopes that it worked. I guess if I don't write after this, well, that damn DNS setting is what was holding this thing back.. kind of sucks. And I bet it all had to do with me setting this thing STATIC, as I have always set them up, rather then DHCP. Had I done it DHCP I am pretty sure it would had grabbed the DNS'... live and learn!
Thanks for posting and making me think outside the box!- ZekeVargenAspirant
Great solution! Worked for me on my readynas 204! Been banging my head to the walls about this all weekend. Manually entering the DNS servers in the NAS solved the problem with PLEX not downloading covers and info.
