RN102 - Backup job always stalls when it reaches 1.3TB - where to look?
Hi, I am usually running rsync to backup my one RN102 to my other RN102 (both 2x4TB WD Red in X-RAID, 1 volume, 10 shares). While most shares will backup fine, at one share (size ~1.8TB) the rsyn...

Is there any log file I can see why the backup job is stalled?
I'd look in system.log and kernel.log for disk and btrfs errors around the time of the hang.
There are a couple of other things you could try - copying the share over the network with a PC tool, and see if that also hangs. Teracopy or FreeFileSync might be good for that (or robocopy if you know how to use that). That should let you know exactly where the problem is.
If you have ssh enabled (and know how to use it), you could also try copying the share to /dev/null - which will open and read every file in the share (but not actually transfer it anywhere).

Hi Stephen,
thanks for your reply.
Where do I find system.log and kernel.log?
In /var/log I do not see these files...
For the backup to the external HDD I was using
"Type: USB" under Target, thus I assume this is
a pure copy approach, isn't it ?Thanks for your help!

They are in the log zip file (which you need to download from the web ui).
If you are using ssh directly, you need to access the logs with journalctl.

I looked the log file but they are not going that far back.
Thus, I restarted the backup job now and it runs since 4h:50min
- unfortunately - only with 7.3MB/s - so will take a while...
(Don't know why the backup is now so slow.
Last time I could reach >25MB/s...)
Will keep you updated once it reaches 1.3TB boundary again.
