RN102 - Backup job always stalls when it reaches 1.3TB - where to look?
Hi, I am usually running rsync to backup my one RN102 to my other RN102 (both 2x4TB WD Red in X-RAID, 1 volume, 10 shares). While most shares will backup fine, at one share (size ~1.8TB) the rsyn...

Hi Stephen,
thanks for your reply.
Where do I find system.log and kernel.log?
In /var/log I do not see these files...
For the backup to the external HDD I was using
"Type: USB" under Target, thus I assume this is
a pure copy approach, isn't it ?
Thanks for your help!

They are in the log zip file (which you need to download from the web ui).
If you are using ssh directly, you need to access the logs with journalctl.

Yes.

I looked the log file but they are not going that far back.
Thus, I restarted the backup job now and it runs since 4h:50min
- unfortunately - only with 7.3MB/s - so will take a while...
(Don't know why the backup is now so slow.
Last time I could reach >25MB/s...)
Will keep you updated once it reaches 1.3TB boundary again.

Backup Job has now reached a point where it is stalled at 1 TB (still showing running with 2.1MB/s since over 145h...).
I dumped the log files and if I look into the logiles.
In system.log I only found this oneline, which sounds as a problem:

I checked on the NAS, there is not .snapshot directory in my Backup share.
Lookslike the rsync is working with a list of files which is not actual...
What can I do to clean this up?
If I look into kernel.log I get a long list of:
Oct 12 15:28:51 NAS-Wettmar kernel: mvneta d0074000.ethernet eth0: bad rx status 0f830000 (overrun error), size=768

Oct 14 13:23:03 NAS-Wettmar kernel: mvneta d0074000.ethernet eth0: bad rx status 0f830000 (overrun error), size=272...
Thanks for any help!

Not quite. The path was /data/._share/Backup/.snapshot That normally does exist, and it looks like the Backup share might have snapshots turned on.
Your backup job is using /data as the source?
Also, do you have two data volumes? I am puzzled by the Keller/dirk paths.
I haven't seen the "failed to get tier" messages, hopefully JohnCM_S or Marc_V will chime on those.
Also, is NAS_Wettmar the source or the destination?
