RN102 - RAID1 did not expand after adding disks

Question

I have a problem with X-RAID volume expansion after disk replacement from 2x1TB to 2x4TB.

X-RAID is full synchronized after disk upgrade (one by one) but still volume is 1TB size, even after NAS restart.

Due to volume is in 90% full I have a information with yellow dot in my logs about this.

My question is: why volume could not self expand after proper disk replacment and proper resync, as it stands in X-RAID documentation?

Firmware is up to date.

Can I use "volume_util -e auto" from SSH command line?

What are the threats using this command?

I think I read the entire forum but I didn't find an answer.

You have confirmed XRAID is on?&nbsp;You say the NAS is "fully synchronized".&nbsp; How may syncs did it do?&nbsp; It should have done one after the first disk replacement and two after the second, with the expansion occurring after the second.&nbsp;Can you post the results of the SSH commands cat /proc/mdstat and lsblk?

But there should have been three.&nbsp; One after the first drive was replaced and two after the second.&nbsp; The one sync for the first drive and first for the second drive re-sync the original volume.&nbsp; The second after the second drive re-syncs the additional space.

If both drives had an unallocated area that could be partitioned or already had a 4th partition that for some reason wasn't made into a RAID and concatenated to your data volume, that command would likely work.&nbsp; But the ReadyNAS has no in-built way to change the size of the partition that's too large.&nbsp; I have no idea why it was created that way, but it's not reversible by normal means.&nbsp;Maybe you could use parted to reduce the size of the partition, but I wouldn't risk it.

Yes, there were two synchronizations.One sync. after the first disk replacement and second sync. after the second disk.So, both synchronizations were successful, than restart and X-RAID is still 1TB size.I will send the logs tomorrow.&nbsp;
