I shut down the NAS, inserted the 3TB and did a factory reset. After it had finished, I inserted the 1TB. ReadyNas started nagging a bit about me having to delete the volume. I wasn't able to recover the 1TB. I think the way volumes are handled by ReadyNas OS6 is not a default method for Debian, so it was not easy to just insert the disk and mount the drive as whatever volume. So if you're better known to the way the volumes are handled, I guess it would be possible to do so.
