RN102 inaccessible after upgrade to 6.4.1
Hi, I just upgraded my RN102 to 6.4.1, and it's now completely inaccessible. I can't see it on the network, and RAIDar doesn't find it [1]. I left it overnight in case it was thinking about som...

Please try USB Boot Recovery: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29952/~/readynas-os-6%3A-usb-recovery-tool
Not all USB keys are compatible so if it doesn't work with one try some more. If it still doesn't resolve it I can send you a further suggestion that should make it work.

Hello geoffl1,
Is there another computer that you can try?
How's LED activities?
May I ask what was it's previous FW version?
Regards,

Hi JennC,
I don't have an ethernet adapter here (or alternative computer that has one), but I can probably borrow one and try later. I'm afraid I don't know the previous FW version - possibly 6.3.2, but really I don't pay that much attention because mostly it just works.
The power button and the blue "act" LED are on all the time. The yellow ethernet LED on the right is on all the time. The one on the left doesn't appear to be on at all (I think sometimes one of them flashes?)

Hello geoffl1,
How's the disk LEDs?
If you can borrow one that has LAN port, connect the NAS straight to the computer. Make sure it has RAIDar and see if it detects the NAS.
You can also try https://nas-xx-xx-xx where last x is last 6 digits of MAC address of the NAS in the address bar of your web browser.

Right, sorry, the disk LEDs are both off, or at least, I can see no lights anywhere on front of the disk caddies (or anywhere else)
I'll get a USB-to-ethernet adaptor and report back. The https://nas-xx-xx-xx found nothing I'm afraid. Thanks for your quick responses!

There is a known issue with upgrading from 6.3.x firmware older than 6.3.5 to 6.4.x. As 6.3.x was always early acces if even that for the 100 series not many users should be affected.
I assume you can't get into the boot menu if you power off the system then power it on again?: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22892/~/how-do-i-access-the-boot-menu-on-my-readynas-102,-202,-212-or-312%3F
Based on your response I can advise on the next steps.- geoffl1Jan 29, 2016Aspirant
Thanks mdgm,
I now have a USB-to-ethernet adapter and will test that, and the boot menu when I get back to the NAS (in about 5 hours)
