RN102 Not accessible after update to Software Version 6.4.0

Help!

Connected to the Admin screen today and all was well.   No errors and the drive status was fine.    It notified me of an update which i selected to run and that update ran fine from what i could tell.   I was notified that the unit should be rebooted and I pressed Yes or Ok.   Since then i have not been able to connect to the device admin page or shares.    I now notice that the only LED's that are on are the power and ACT, the drive lights are off.    After about 2 hours, I pulled the plug as the power switch does not shutdown.

I have gone to the boot menu and tried an OS Reinstall, but that did not work, same issue.     I checked in DHCP server and the device no longer has an IP in the table, but the NIC in the back and the link are showing traffic.

I have tried RADAR and it finds other devices on my network but not the one in question.

I assume the Update failed and the device is bricked, but I have not idea.    Anyone have any idea what I can do to recover my data?

  • Did you manage to get a fix for this?

The same thing happened to me as well. Although mine has a fresh drive so I don't care about data loss.

      Awesome, thanks!

If you don't mind answering, approximately how long did the flashing take?

As it's new i'm not really sure on any of the timings for the os reinstalls, disk formats etc (especially due to the 102 not really having any sort of text indicators).

Once I got the files onto a USB memory stick (don't use an SD card in a USB adapter!), it took less than 10 minutes to install the 6.4.0 update and reboot the RN104.

It booted from the USB stick, copied the upgrade over, and shut down in about 2-3 minutes. On restart, it installed the FW upgrade. (Not sure if it rebooted a second time...)
Once it was done, I had my two mirrored drives back and everything was back to normal.
