RN102 OS 6.0.8 doesn't save share path
Hello,
I have a RN102 with OS 6.0.8. I created a backup job which should save from a remote Windows share to the NAS backup share.
I try to make a backup from a subdirectory of an admin share. I set the share name to "d$/folder" and I use the Windows administrative account with password. When I save the job the first time and run it, it works perfectly.
When I look at the settings thereafter, it just shows "d$". So it seems as if the WebGUI forgets the correct path. When I execute the job a second time, it actually back ups "d$".
I restarted the NAS, restarted the SMB service, but nothing helps.
The PCs OS ist Windows 7 Professional.
Has anybody an idea or the same problem?
Kind regards
Mnemo

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI suggest sharing the folder on the Windows side, and not using the administrative share.
- MnemoAspirantThanks Stephen for the quick reply.
Your solution is a possibility. But the described behaviour is a bug, isn't it?
If I try to make backups in a SoHo from a bunch of PCs, it is much more work to create shares on Windows side, than to use the admin share on NAS side.
Thangs again and I think I will report the problem to NETGEAR.
Regards
Mnemo - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI agree it should be fixed (and reported), I was just suggesting a workaround at least for now.
Personally I run a backup program (acronis) on the PCs and write the backup to the NAS. Copying the Windows user directories in a NAS backup job can give you path-length issues (causing backup job failures).
