RN10200 IP address not working for admin, RAIDar doesn't find, still sharing files

Hello;

I can't access the admin page via my static address, and can't find a new address assigned by the router in the DHCP lists.

RAIDar (v6.1 downloaded today) doesn't find the device on my subnet.  The device just seems to not exist.

Files are still accessible, however, and I can create new mappings using the \\name of the device\Share Name format

The device does shutdown cleanly (push the power button 3 times), and come back up, in the same state.

I don't have access to any log information since I can't get to the admin interface

I did not receive any emailed warning messages (low space, etc).

I decided to see if there were any new updates today, which why I checked and found I couldn't get in.  I don't know how long it's been like this, because files have been available.

I really haven't had to look for help on this device before, so I don't even know if I'm posting in the right place - sorry.

Any ideas/guidance would be appreciated,

Erik

    The first step is to make a backup of the files on the NAS - since the data appears to be at risk.

    if you ping the device name (say from windows CMD) are you getting back the right IP address?

    If you do get an address that is different from the static one, try that ip address in your browser (https://ipaddress/admin).

    If the address is the same as the static one, then try entering \\nasipaddress in file explorer and see if you get the share list.

      Stephen;

      I had been pinging by address.  When I tried the device name, it returned a IP6 address - apparently my router was set to provide that schema as well as IP4.  The ping 'woke up' the regular IP4 address, and I could access the admin page.

      I did a backup of the data, and will do a reset and reconfiguaration (it's currently on 6.2.2), and start over from scratch.

      I downloaded the logs, is there any paticular log I should check to see why it may have lost the responses to IP4 traffic just to be sure (if it wasn't a router issue...)

      Thanks for the advice, I never thought to ping via devicename.

        Edit: if you were able to download the logs using RAIDar then the following isn't the issue:

        This problem may be caused by an uninstallation of an app. There is a known issue which was fixed in the next release.

        If this is the issue then it would be quick to fix remotely. Alternatively a scratch disk could be used to update the firmware, then you could power down, remove the scratch disk, then put your disks back in (same order as before).

  • I am having the same problem ever since I upgraded the OS. Before I upgraded the OS, I was not able to access the Admin account through my browser. So checking the KnowledgeBase I found out how to reset the password using the Boot Menu, followed the instructions, and was able to get in. Then I upgraded the OS and logged off. I recently started to have problems with accessing some of the folders on the ReadyNAS after upgrading my PC's to Win10 and tried to log in to the ReadyNAS through the browser. Again I am not able to login, so I tried the OS re-install from the boot menu, to reset the password, but still cannot log in through the browser. The ReadyNAS shows up as a Network Computer in WIN10 File Explorer, will expand to show all of the folders, but I still have access problems using a browser using the admin account.
