RN104 - 6.4.2 - Active Directory Permissions Issues

Hi guys

I recently changed the user authentication mode on my RN2014 unit to Active Directory, and now I can't seem to get the permissions the way I want them.

I followed the NETGEAR guide and changed network permissions to Everyone for "Read/Write". Then on my Windows box, I went in and modified the permissions in the "Security" tab like I would on a standard NTFS share.

The problem is, the changes I make don't follow with what is actually getting allowed.

Lets say I have 1 folder "Testing" with Security/NTFS permissions set to "Everyone - Read&Execute, List, Read". Basically read only. I also have "Domain Admins" as full access.

Unfortuantely, the Everyone, read only applies, but users who are in the Domain Admins group also do not have access.

If I open the Advanced tab (which the guide says to not do) and run the Effective Access check, everything checks out - but this is not the reality.

On the RN104 unit, I have it to NOT cache AD credentials since that was not working. I would just get an "ADS sync failed" and "Import Error". The unit shows up just fine in the OU that I created, so it's clearly working somehow.

Does anybody have experience with this and would be able to help me?

    1. check in network permission tab that Everyone is R/W
    2. go in file access permission tab and reset the permisions
    3. after that, set the permissions via Explorer

This is exactly how I did it, and am having the issues that I listed in the first post.

I made sure everyone is set to R/W in network access, reset the permissions in the File access and then set NTFS permissions through my Windows box.
