RN104 Connectivity Issues

Since moving home i am now unable to get my NAS to reach the internet. If i try to do a system update i get the below message:

" Operation timeout. communication error. check your internet connection, DNS settings or proxy settings. "

My NAS is connected to my LAN fine, i can access the private IP of the NAS and also PING the IP. The issue seems to be that it cannot get to the outside world.

I also noticed that the NAS time and date is out of sync as it cannot reach the NTP servers this makes sense as it has not got access to the internet.

My setup is as followed.

BT home hub connected to netgear ethernet over power plug. NAS connected to Netgear ethernet over power plug.

Gateway is 192.168.1.254

NAS IP settings are

IP: 192.168.1.105

GW: 192.168.1.254

NAS is running FW 6.6.1

    HI Maximus360

Try adding your Gateway and 8.8.8.8 under DNS, remove 192.168.1.1 and check.

    Regards

    Hi Maximus360

Just want to check if other devices connected to your NETGEAR Switch can connect on the Internet. Is your NAS set on DHCP? You may want to try adding DNS Servers like google and your Gateway address.

Have you tried connecting your NAS directly to your router? Also, your NAS is running an old firmware so once everthing is set it would be best to update it.

    Regards

      Guide

      Hi Marc

Yes i have connected my laptop to the same switch that the NAS is connected to and i can get out to the internet fine.

The NAS is configured with DHCP and gets all its IP settings from my BT home hub.

Currently my NAS has configured itself with one DNS IP which is 192.168.1.1. I am not sure if this is correct, my gateway is 192.168.1.254.

I have not yet tried connecting the NAS directly to the router..

      Thanks

      Mark
