RN10400 - won't boot, now won't power... anyway to replace?
Have been naively using my RN10400 for years thinking the RAID idea was protecting my data.. bad idea.
This morning i was able to see my NAS root folder but not able to open subfolders. I tried rebooting the NAS and saw t was taking a very long time to boot. It did seem to eventually boot but same result. I could see root folder but couldnt open any folders. I tried going to admin web page and i could see the banner image but no UI to do anything.
Not that this wasn't enough, i tried disconnecting the power cable to move the NAS to my desk so i could work on it better.. and now it won't even power up. Guessing the cable end connector or the power connector itself is broken.
So, many questions:
- is there any way to get support for this device so that i can ask questions?
- my guess is going to be very difficult to now fix the chassis so is there any compatible box i can buy that i can put my drives in without losing all my data? My guess is if there is such a thing this would solve the power up issue but then i would be back and the NAS not booting properly. But perhaps i would be able to use RAIDar or internal self test to find out more.

Replacement power adapters are inexensive, so you could do a risk buy of one.
You can migrate the disks to any OS-6 NAS (though you will likely need to get a used one if you go down this path).

Already ordered power brick replacement. Suspect a couple weeks to try that.
So OS-6 are anything with model numbers like RN200, 300, 400, etc? And Netgear doesn't sell these anymore? Will see if i can find a used one.
And I am looking at ReclaiMe s/w and buying 4 USB enclosures to see if this at least lets me recover all my data.
Anything else i should be doing?
Thanks for the speedy reply. 🙂

Correct.

They haven't come out and said so, but there is little-to-none inventory out there.

No, I think you are pursuing all the options.
