XRAID won't shrink an array, it will only expand one.
So you can't replace a 3 TB drive with anything smaller.
- Dalo-HarkinJan 25, 2019AspirantHi and thanks for posting, even if there is 2.5TB free space across all 4 disks?

Actually, since only 2TB of the 3TB is actually in use, the array doesn't need to shrink and I believe you can replace it with a 2TB. I think I did that experiment back when I got my last new NAS and tried out a lot of stuff. Unfortunately, I'm not sure enough to recommend you buy a 2TB to use. But if you already have the 2TB, then do try it and let us know what happened.
- Dalo-HarkinJan 26, 2019AspirantThanks for your reply, so once the data is recover off the damaged 3TB drive, I just leave the system powered on, remove the 3TB drive and then just swap it for a 2TB drive or larger and then the system will just incorporate that into the xraid setup and my data will be there as it was before?
I'm just a little unclear on the procedure as it's been a long time since I put it all together and set it up and it's mainly used only for file storage and streaming of my own media
