RN312 USB 3.0 disconnecting

HI,

I am having an issue with my external USB 3.0 drive/enclosure. When i connect the drive to the USB 3.0 port on the back, after about 10 minutes or when i access the drive, it disconnects from the NAS. I can unplug it and reconnect it and it gets recognised again, but same thing, after a few minutes or during access to the drive, it disconnects again.

If i plug it in to the front USB all is fine.

I have RN312 with 2x3tb WD red drives in the NAS and 2 external drives plugged in. The one causing issues is a USB 3.0 which has a WD red 2 tb drive and the other is USB 2.0 with a 3 tb drive. The NAS has been updated to 6.4.0. I found and updated Bios from an update that i found from another thread, but it has not worked.

Your help with this would be greatfully received.

Thanks

      Ok,

It seems that the External case that I purchased was at fault. Received a replacement today and it now seems to be working, however, because I have 2 external drives connected, when I connected the new usb 3.0 Ex drive the 1st one disconnected. I then reconnected the 1st one and although it worked it indicated that the file system was not recognised. It still works though and the NAS can still read both drives.

I will keep an eye on the situation. It maybe a bug!

FYI the USB 2.0 drive is connected to the rear bottom USB port and the USB 3.0 drive is connected to the rear top port.

      Thanks

Are you sure the 1st one actually disconnected? It sounds like it may not have and that by pulling it you did an unsafe unmount that may have led to the filesystem becoming somewhat dirty. If the filesystem is NTFS you could try connecting the USB disk up to a Windows PC and running a repair operation on it.
