Yup, you're right, it came back. Earlier today just the storage icon was gone, so I refreshed and it came back. I checked another machine and it was gone as well. A refresh on both machines brought it back. The icon disappeared every couple of minutes. I thought it may have been related to topology since all three devices are on separate switches, so I put admin machine on the same switch as the RN314, everything disappeared except for the Media icon. So I tried changing the workgroup name back and forth and that did not fix it this time. A graceful reboot of the 314 got the Storage icon back, however the compute icon was still missing. When I clicked on View Device Page of the storage icon, it took me to 127.0.0.1 on both machines. Then I changed from dynamic IP to static IP and rebooted the 314 once again. Still no change in the device web page address. All the while, I could access the device using the host name. I even created a short cut on my desktop using the host name. So I changed the host name. When I refreshed the network folder, the storage icon came back and with the correct IP address for the device web page this time.
Windows problem, I doubt it. OS 6 is still rough around the edges being only six months old. I hope Netgear technical support monitors the forums since I see no need at this time to contact them to have them deny me support since my hard drives are Western Digital Red 4TB and not in the ECL yet.
Not a big deal since I work with UNC paths anyway and creating a Shortcut
