RN316 / 8 TB HDD

Microsoft Windows 7 xp pro
Purple 8TB WD HD JOB formatted
RN316
latest firmware update

my RN316 recognises my 8TB hard drive.
but I'm unable to access this in windows 7,
trying to map the hard dive won't work either.

all other drives in the NAS are 6 TB, and I have no problem with them.

Sadly this means accessing, writing to, or reading from 8TB drive is impossible, now I think this is a Windows 7 compatibility problem with 8 TB

any ideas would be helpful thanks.

  • Do you access the NAS via SMB or iSCSI?

Surely, there are people out there with RAID5 volumes larger than 8TB and Windows 7. Like in corporate environment, users often have access to a large SMB share... The SMB client is not aware of the "type" of volume on the NAS. So I would believe the issue to be elsewhere.

    Any logs on the NAS?

      JAKOLANTASH,

Many Thanks for your kindness in replying.

I have resolved the issue, Ready Cloud was not connected to the web when i installed the disc.

For some reason, now Ive connected ready cloud, I can see the disc, and am able to map it.

Oddly, it didnt want to work when the system was offline from the web, the system had to be web connected.

      very odd indeed.

Thank you again for your kind help.

There is an app "SMB plus" you could try, which fine tunes access via Windows.
