RND2120-100NAS Various Errors

I am unable to access the files on my NAS device.  The power light blinks after being turned on.  Raidar is unable to find the NAS device, when the drives are inside, unless you play around with the drives a bit (removing and replacing them).  When Raidar does finally see the device, it says "bad discs detected".  If I remove both discs, Raidar says the "root is corrupted".

I removed the discs and attempted to scan them with Seagate Seatools (the discs are Seagate).  One disc would hang at 0% and never progress through the test.  The other disc passed the diagnostic test.  Neither disc was viewable in My Computer nor under disc management when I had them connected to a Windows machine.

What's going on?

Is there data on the NAS you don't have backed up?

    No

Then try a factory reset, with only the good disk installed.  You can do that using the duo's boot menu (a bit awkward), or you can zero the good drive using Seatools.

Zeroing the drive returns it to a blank (unformatted) state.  The NAS will do a factory install automatically if you power it up with blank disks.  Then you'd set it up again.

Well of course you have one bad disk at least.  Did you try booting with only the good disk (ideally in its original slot).

Moving the drives around with the NAS running will normally wipe them.  Is there data on the NAS you don't have backed up?

Also, what is the disk drive model?

They won't be shown in My Computer because they are not formatted for windows.  You should have seen the drives in Window's disk manager (since Seatools found them).

As I stated previously, they did not appear in disk manager.
