It's not silly, its a flawed older tray design.
There are two options:
One is to push a stiff paperclip or a pushpin into the hole in the center of the button ("A" below).
If you look through the slots at "B" (flashlight might be needed) you can see a release that you can also slide with a stiff paperclip or a small screwdriver. That often works better.

The disk trays with round button are the old disk trays, rectangular ones were made because of the stuck issue.
