Running an ancient HP LaserJet 4 from an RN214

Does anyone know if it's possible to run an HP LaserJet 4 laser printer from an RN214? I've done a little searching and see mention of CUPS but can anyone tell me immediately why it's impossible or otherwise a bad idea before I continue investigating?

Many thanks

How will you connect it?  As I recall, the LJ4 only has Centronics and RS-232 capability.  Even with a USB to one of those adapter, you'd have no driver for it installed.  AFAIK, CUPS does not provide such.

I think it would be much easier to check eBay for an old JetDirect card or stand-alone JetDirect box than try to use the NAS as a print spooler.
