Rysnc not working, Win 8.1

Oh boy,
And here I thought it was a great idea to upgrade to windows 8.1
No more front view and no more rync backup pulls from my laptop to ReadyNAS pro.
Will a future firmware update fix this or do I need the workaround posted here (not experienced at it at all)
