Rysnc test connection fails when path specified
OK - thanks to some of the other postings (mainly sdouek on 8 April 2011 :D ), I managed to configure my NAS Ultra 4+ (aka "Collective") using NFS to pull over all my video files from my NAS Duo (aka "Seven-of-nine") to the Ultra 4+. I then when to edit that backup job to use rsync for incremental back ups.
However, when trying to specify the destination path, typing ANY path resulted in the test connection failing. Leaving the path blank results in a successful test connection. None of my path names have spaces in them. In this case, the path name is the name of a share - "backup".
If I change the backup destination to Remote:NFS or Remote:FTP, test connection works with a path name. It's just rsync that has the problem. I've also double-checked the access permissions, and the Ultra 4+ has read/write permission to the media share on the Duo w/ rsync.
I've read many of the other posts here concerning a failing test connection with a path name, but none of the solutions seem to apply. I even tried just letting the backup job run, thinking that the failed test connection message was spurious, but the backup job really did fail - see the log message below. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance.

- davem1AspirantOK, problem solved! I just spent about an hour online with Netgear tech support. Here's what we had to do to fix the problem:
Had to go back to Services/Standard File Protocols, Rsync. Then uncheck, apply, recheck, and then appy again on both the Duo and the Ultra. Then everything worked, including the test connection with full path name, as well as the incremental backup. Why we had to do that, I don't know (and don't really care), but I am one happy camper! :wiggle: Hopes this helps someone. - sandheepAspiranti had the same problem--your fix didn't work, but toggling the rsync permissions on the share from read only to read-write and back to read only took care of it.
