To me it sounds a lot like this might be Seagates problem. I'm seeing reports all over the net in diff. places of people having these issues. With Synology NAS's and also it appears one guy is probably using the drive directly on a SATA connector in his PC because mentions trying the drive on 2 different computers both running Vista. But then on the other hand I have also heard of other users that haven't had any problems. So almost seems like there are a bad batch of drives maybe? Is the issue that is happening only on reading? I ask because I have one of my 1.5TB drives in an Vantec NexStar SATA Drive Dock and I have copied around 1TB of dvd .iso files to it and it's been writing for hours without a hitch. I have yet to try reading from it though. One it's almost full I will try watching some movies off it and see what happens.
Has anyone contacted Seagate directly recently to see if they have any comments about this yet?
