Im getting 30mb/sec + from and too my readynas pro with my 4x1,5 tb seagate disks with write cache turned off. So personally i will keep my disks until new firmware comes out.
It HAS to come a fix, these disk also fails when only single disk on ANY system. There are even posts at the seagate message board!
This shows that all linux users have these write cache problems.

Just look at this from the SEAGATE MESSAGE BOARD!!

Hi there.
I am suffering from the same problem, constant freezes (of up to 30 seconds) on the 1.5TB drives.
Model Number: ST31500341AS
Firmware Revision: SD17
And the problem is not just under Linux, its in Vista too.
I have tried the drive in the following configurations and they all exhibit the freezing problem:
Motheboard on-board SATA controller, non-raid
PCI-Express SATA controller, non-raid and raid
Swapping SATA cables
Swapping Power supplies
Running on Linux Ubuntu 2.6.24
Running on Vista 64 Bit Home Premium
The problem exhibits itself really quickly while watching recorded TV shows.
On Linux I can get red of the problem by disabling write cache on the drive, on Vista I don't know how to fix it.
EDIT: This seems to be a much bigger problem, there are reports of problems with this drive in Macs, PC's, NAS devices, you name it:
Mac User Thread: http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=571843
Ubuntu Users Thread: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=933053
Synlogy Users Thread: http://www.synology.com/enu/forum/viewt ... 26&t=10746
Toms Hardware Users Thread: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/24711 ... 31500341as
Netgear ReadyNAS (They removed it from their compatibility list after user complaints): viewtopic.php?f=20&t=20435&st=0&sk=t&sd=a
So lets hope this gets resolved soon!
