The upgrade process itself took less than a minute each; disconnecting and connecting the drives from the PC and then rebooting the PC in between each upgrade took about twice as long. ;-)
When I get home this evening, I'll pull the drive that is failing and replace it with one of the new ones. Must I shut down the ReadyNAS before I do the swap? Or, can I hot swap them? I believe everything I've read indicates a hot swap is okay, but I want to be sure that a hot swap is 100% safe.
Actually, a hot swap is preferred. Pay careful attention to the LCD screen, emails, Frontview and RAIDar, so you know what to do next.
