Maybe this is all due to the extra precision and heat requirements of a 4 platter drive?
Seagate did just announce several new 500 GB per platter drives, starting the 7200.12 series, so maybe we'll see a 1.5 TB 3-platter drive soon. And then maybe a 4-platter 2.0 TB drive! ha. Couldn't help myself.
