Server 2012 R2 Essentials Windows Backup #25229690

I am having all sorts of trouble getting the server to recognize the NAS for strictly backup purposes. It's not finding any drives available, but I can browse it by UNC or IP from the server fine. I have set the SMB to 2.0 also, rebooted it as well, reset to factory defaults....nothing has worked. Chat support pointed me to this article http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=75872, which is where we got the SMB 2.0 from. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Can you please send in your logs (See the Sending Logs link in my sig)?
  • There were no errors in the logs. The only way I have found so far to get this to work is to create a VHD on the NAS, then windows will recognize it. I cannot believe that is the way it should be done.
  • I cleared the logs to see if anything was logged when I ran the wizard, they were totally empty.

That is the status log you cleared. I was asking about the logs zip file which contains much more than that. The Sending Logs link in my sig explains how to download this.

Also what error did your PC give when you tried to run the backup?
  • When I run the wizard from the dashboard, it looks for available drives, and I get a message saying The wizard cannot find any drives that are suitable for a backup destination. Attach a backup drive to the server, and then click refresh list. I have the log files from the NAS....just emailed them.
