Set Up Dual Redundancy without RAIDar?
I just did a factory reset on my ReadyNAS Pro. I tried to follow instructions in the manual to set up XRAID2 with dual redundancy. I used RAIDar to get to SETUP chose the XRAID2 but no option for dual redundancy appeared :( appeared before it went to completing its setup.
So... I updated to the most current RAIDar for OSX, did another factory reset and oops! This is why my copy of RAIDar is out of date. RAIDar 4.3.8 doesn't work for me. It throws up the text window explaining all its nifty features but the SCAN button doesn't work. I recall RAIDar stopped working for me quite a long time ago...
Long story short the ReadyNAS is merrily running sync to create what I assume will be single a redundant XRAID2 volume. So, what's my best path to converting to dual redundant mode?
Thanks in advance.

- ephemerisAspirantWell, barring a better suggestion I guess I'll shut down. Remove drive 6. Do a factory reset. Wait for it to resync then add drive 6 back in per this

and wait for the dual redundancy rebuild (which I gather can take days :-(
Seems a rather roundabout path to take. Is there really no more direct method that works from a Mac these days? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredOpen Frontview. Under Volumes does it just say X-RAID2 or does it say X-RAID2 dual-redundancy?
- ephemerisAspirantVolume settings says
Configuration: RAID Level X-RAID2, 5 disks
Yes I went ahead and started over with 5 disks and will add the sixth when it finishes syncing. Unless you have a better idea :-) - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
Personally I prefer doing it your way; it avoids the need to work within the 10 minute window.ephemeris wrote: ...Yes I went ahead and started over with 5 disks and will add the sixth when it finishes syncing. Unless you have a better idea :-)
