I just added a 4th 3TB ( all approved same WD HD's ) --- BEFORE doing anything I made sure the firmware was UTD. The ReadyNAS took 2 days syncing it, then I rebooted. A few hours ago I DELETED th...

I am able to reproduce your issue, and we've got a fix ready. If you update to 6.6.0, then enable Secure Diagnostics Mode and PM me the 5-digit number, I can get your system patched.

RAIDar states:
RAIDar could not find any NETGEAR storage on your network. Check that your storage device is powered on and connect correctly. for more help . . . .
.
I figured that since (if) ReadyNAS was busy & I destroyed the only volume, there was nothing for RAIDar to find

RAIDar will normally find the ReadyNAS if it is powered, even if there are no disks installed.
Does the NAS respond to ping?
- joe_whtSep 26, 2016Luminary
YES..
ping -c 5 192.168.1.26 & 192.168.1.33
sent and recieved back 5 responces.
SO... Genie & the pings can see it..
Maybe it's just too busy with creating and encrypting?
I've just never NOT been able to see the ReadyNAS page.

It can happen when the NAS is under heavy load - the web page runs at a relatively low priority.
I am a bit concerned that RAIDar isn't finding it though. Hopefully nothing is wrong, it's just too loaded right now.

Just an update.. not sure what it's doing or not doing..
and I'm not sure why the resyncing is making my ethernet connected Internet sluggish (Netgear R8500 )
.
But.. I got the new 4th HD in Friday,
4pm Insterted it and it started Syncing ( I guess to Raid-5) Completed Sunday 12 Noon = 44 hours First Sync New 3TB HD
Sunday 1pm I Destroyed the Vol & created a 4 HD x 3TB RAID-6 with Encryption, Estimaged time = 86 hours
.. Webpage not available, Sunday & Monday the activity light was blinking,
This morning, Tuesday AM, No Busy Light, No Webpage access, No sound from the ReadyNAS,
Pressing the power button did nothing, Netgear community post(s) search end result Unplug.
SO, I unplugged, the NAS Webpage Came Up with a messasge: Resyncing Started.
The reboot was at 43 hours.. and the settings box stated 26 hours remaining..
so I guess the resync is ahead of schedule.
.
But.. Why did the activity light stop working & the unit went Quiet.
Did the light just go to sleep and
the ReadyNAS was actually doing something ?
Did it Freeze Up ( still making my Web Surfing sluggish )
could that corrupt the NAS drives ?
Did it actually Pickup where it left off?
.
I'm scared by the end I'll have wasted all this time & end up having problems from
-- the Freeze, If it really Froze up, and have to Re-Do everything later on.
Should I stop everything and start over now ?
OR.. Does the ReadyNAS 214 have a pretty good " Pick up where it left off" system ?
.
Oh... the USB key it created.. I guess Leave it in all the time..
I downloaded the key to my Document folder, & dragged it to a 2nd USB which I labled and
put with my OS X USB drive & install CD's
.
I think I need a valium.
