Shares gone after update to 6.10.5 (Ultra 6 / OS 6)

So I got that 'update popup' in GUI and accepted it. Next day I noticed, utorrent has lost its settings, but I didn't pay attention to it. A week later, I noticed my Windows10 PC has failed to back up. After checking the backup settings, I opened the GUI to find there's only one item has left - 'Home Folders' - but all shares I created have gone.

Luckily, everything in /data is safe, and even snapshots have survived (as indicated by the yellow piece on the disk usage bar). What puzzles me, the AFP access is still working. Also I believe it's possible to re-create the shares by renaming the original folders in /data and adding them again in GUI, but the risk of losing the snapshots is unacceptable.

The question: how to re-create the share configurations without losing the corresponding snapshots? Any ideas?

  • Were you seeing any warnings about the OS partition filling?  That's a common cause of similar issues when there is an errant app filling it up.  I don't know if uTorrent is one that can or not,
