Ahh ok, I thought that could be the case. So in that case it means that I won't be able unless I install the add on that allows root access, but if that module is installed Netgear may offer no support, right?

Not sure how you were able to SSH in not as the root user. If you SSH in by any method then we may deny support. It is at our discretion, but generally this would be if we suspect the problem is related to misuse of SSH.
I think you can ignroe the error messages about that presence file.
