SLOW backing up to USB

The quickest way to do the initial full backup is to connect your ntfs drive to a pc, connect the pc via gigabit Ethernet to your nas and do the first copy that way.
Not sure if this will retain file ownership and permissions though, so you might just want to take the hit of doing the initial backup directly from the readynas to be safe. Worst case a 2TB backup should run for less than a week.
