WIndows Systems like to use the "latest" version of Windows on a network for a browse master and they can sometimes misbehave. I had a small Netbook Windows 2008 R2 server that was elected, but wasn't setup to do network discovery properly. Some systems would not have a problem, some would. I am using a "Workgroup" network.
All that being said I have a Window XP SP3 system that still does exactly the same thing. Takes 2-3 minutes to bring up a network share. Never figured it out. I have another Windows XP SP3 system (actually 2 of them) that never have a problem.
Okey thanks, I will check it out.
That XP SP3 system you got, does it behave like that no matter from hwere you map a drive?

Computers
NAS
Switches
As of now, I think its the NAS, since I can map drives from other places whithout any problems.
