Slow speed on Windows 2000 professional
Hi guys,
I have just installed a ReadyNAS duo 2210 on a network with 10 clients, I have fixed wireless problem with Windows Vista e Windows 7 (I have setted MTU at 1430), but now I have another problem, I have a PC with Windows 2000 professional connected via wired to the net. It is very slow when I open directory, file, etc, I have tried to set MTU (with DR. TCP) at lower value but, of course, it doesn't work. How I can do? Thank you very much, Paolo.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat version of RAIDiator are you running?
Does a direct-connection (How to Direct Connect to your ReadyNAS) make a difference?
Windows 2000 Professional is very old and while it should still work, I believe it's no longer supported by Microsoft. Unless you have a special need to run software on Windows 2000 that you can't get to run on newer versions of Windows, I would suggest considering replacing the machine with a newer one.
Unless you have the 2100 (4-bay rackmount) as well as a Duo, please change your profile to say you have a Duo.
Welcome to the forum! - derfel83AspirantHi!! Thank you for the quick reply and the warm welcome :)
The RAIDiator version is 4.1.8, I suppose it is the last. I hope someone could help me, but... I will consider to replace the pc with a newer one... - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThere are some performance issues on 4.1.8, I believe.
Does your router do gigabit? I'm guessing the NIC in your PC is probably 100 megabit.
You could try changing the ethernet cable.
There is a new beta firmware available: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=59222
If still same problem with direct-connection (helps isolate cause is of issue) then you could check to see if downgrading to 4.1.7 or updating to that beta helps. - derfel83AspirantThank you again for the answer!
My router is 100 megabit, so I guess the problem is another, and direct connection has the same problem :(
So I will try to downgrade to 4.1.7, maybe it will help me. Thank you very much.
