Snapshots & PowerTimer
Hi,
Until very recently, my RN102 was running 24/7 and every scheduled task would run fine (monthly defrag the 15th @ 0 AM and weekly / monthly snapshots the Sunday (?) @ 0 AM).
As it was useless and wasteful from 11 PM to 8 AM, the power timer was then scheduled to power it down for that time frame. Without any warning of a scheduling conflict, the defrag stopped running as the snapshots stopped being taken (logic so far).
Now, I've lost every snapshots (the log is painfully explicit about that > only delete, no create) but won back 200Gb ... so it seems because how can I have a 70% usage volume warning with 1.2Tb of data and 500Gb of free space ?
Is it an expected behavior or I can't for the life of me find where I can change the snapshot's time ?
Thanks. :smileyhappy:
Hi Nono54Fr,
Welcome to the community!
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the time of the snapshot schedule. Check this article for more information. With regard to the snapshot files that were deleted, we could find out what happened if you could provide us a copy of the device logs.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards,

Hi.
[2015-12-15]
First off, thanks for that link.
. For the Power Timer of my RN102, I simply push back the shutdown time to 1 AM daily. So no matter how my shares' snapshots are or will be setup, they will always be " snapshotted "
. As for the deleted snapshots, I throughly sifted the status log and it's painfully obvious what happened: they were deleted by the weekly purge, one by one until there was nothing left.[2015-12-30]
Yep, the snapshots are now done like clockwork for the past 2 weeks. That being said, on one hand, I can understand not allowing to change these scheduled events, to prevent users mistakenly disabling them altogether but on the other hand, I don't follow the logic to not have a small warning " hey guys, if you shut me down during that time frame, I can't snapshot "
Oh well, like they said, that's above my pay grade.
Thanks & Happy Holidays. :smileylol:
