Sony Bravia TV - Videos are not listed

what model and year of sony tv? many of them do not support video codecs necessary to play avi's

my 46z, from 2008/2009 I think, only supports audio and pictures, it will not stream video.

Thanks for the fast reply. This is a Sony KDL-EX720 with their latest firmware. It's 3 months old. It plays these videos fine over the network from a Windows 7 PC.

yeah, but streaming from windows media center is different than dlna.

readydlna supports most video formats, however it is mostly the client (ie the tv) that determines what will play back.

You can confirm whether readydlna supports the files by using a dlna client on your pc to browse the nas.

You may also need to 'rescan' the media folders via frontview

note also, that readydlna does not do any conversion or transcoding, the client must be able to play the format directly (perhaps your pc is converting the video to be compatible so the tv can play it?)

does twonky or some other type server need putting on the nas?

I have the same problem. Yesterday I posted a sample video from Sony's website. Could see it fine. Today, I added some of my own. Same format, in a subfolder. Now, none are visible. I have a Sony KDL EX700
