Ssh login in tech support mode on legacy Readynas Pro 2 not working - advice on options?

Following the guide on backing up VPD files on legacy readynas written by Sandshark I could not log in as root when I booted in Tech Support mode, came back connection refused. This on a Readynas pro 2 (same as ultra 2) and running 6.10.6 . Ssh as root works when booting in normal mode but then I can't se the flash disk. Are there any other steps I need to take for accessing the NAS in tech support mode? I have checked the ip adress using Raidar so that isn't the problem. (Using terminal (bash) on a mac running Mojave).

Any ideas appreciated as I would  like to backup the VPD file

Best regards Anders Thalme

  • You don't use SSH in support mode, you use Telnet.

Success in using telnet on a Mac running El Capitan (MacOS 10.11), however telnet is removed from never MacOS versions. Took me a while to understand that, but after I moved to an old Mac everything worked.
