I deleted an old snapshot on a share that contained some large files including a system image backup. It took a while, but then I noticed that capacity started to increase.
Appreciate the advice on removing snapshots for shares that have high volume/changes. I now keep on maintain snapshots for critical shares.
ps. I am assuming snapshots have replaced recycle bin

Yes, though they do behave somewhat differently.
If you have snapshots enabled, note that you can right-click on a file or folders in Windows and restore a previous version using the "restore previos versions" menu option. Of course you can also use the admin web ui.
