streaming media to iphone from readyNAS NV+ (it works!)
ok, ever since I got this iphone a few month's ago I have been looking for a nice way to access the music, pictures and maybe even video I store on my readyNAS NV+.
I tried crossfire, but it never seemed to work? viewtopic.php?f=36&t=31937
I tried accessing slimserver directly but that would only let me control my squeezebox, not play anything on the phone.
Tried ipeng but that never worked either. I think it is also just a remote for slimserver devices.
finally, I sprang for a $5.00 app named PlugPlayer for iphone which did the trick.
the available version did not work (2.3.xx), but the dev was nice enough to hook me up with a beta of 2.4.0.
I can now look at pictures, play music, (I haven't any iphone compatible video) over Edge, 3G and wireless connections anywhere. In my small test (my morning commute) I did not have any drop outs or issues.
This worked with:
readyNAS NV+ with readyDLNA turned on
readyNAS port 8200 forwarded, dyndns setup to handle Comcast dynamic ip
Comcast connection with 15Mbps down 3Mbps up
iphone 3GS
if anyone has another solution I would like to hear it, this seemed to be the easiest/cheapest way to go.

- Floob1AspirantI got AirVideo working! So happy with that.
Shame it doesnt play pics or music, but still pretty good. - zhanlianAspirantThis looks good, but I think I'm right in saying it will only play video that the iphone likes - whereas AirPlayer will play just about anything.http://www.wholesale-cell-phone.com/hiphone-c-1.html
