Streaming to LG TV: can see ReadNAS, but not folders

We have just bought an internet-enabled TV (LG 47LM620T-ZE), and I'd hoped to be able to use it to watch video material streamed from my ReadyNas Duo v2. I seem to be falling at the first fence though.

The ReadyNas Dupis set up with root-level folders "Data" and "Temp"; the video files i stored in subfolders (eg) Data\Media\Video. However, when I select the NAS as input for the TV, I don't see any of this folder structure at all - I see folder icons for "Browse Folders", "Music", "Pictures", and "Video"; click on "Video" and I get further icons for "All video" and "Folders" both of which are empty.

I'm sure I'm doing something totally basically wrong in my ignorance - can anyone put me right?

(For what it's worth, I have the Logitech Media Server add-on installed on the Duo, to provide music for our Squeezebox music player; and I can see this as another input option for the TV... should I maybe get this working for the video instead?)

  • By default, only the "media" share is setup for streaming, you need to turn this on for your data share:
    http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/ ... 20NV+%20V2)/RAIDiator%205.3%20SW%20Manual_5Sep12.pdf
    page 35, step 7

Thanks so much for your response - however unfortunately the link you provided seems to be broken - please could you check it or let me know what document I'm after? I've had a look but no success...
    Many thanks
  • Thanks for the reply; apologies for the late feedback! Haven't had a chance to play with this further until now.

I read that link, and confirmed that DNLA wasn't enabled, and that now it is. Not helping however - I still can't see the folders which I should (see my earlier post).

(I'm presuming that I should be able to access the ReadyNAS folders directly, as I can from a computer or the networked media player attached to my other TV, rather than needing to use the Logitech server software - right?)

Any further tips much appreciated...! :)

    Thanks
  • This worked for me:

    1. Select Configure > Shares.
    2. Change ReadyDLNA to "Movies", make sure ReadyDLNA is turned "ON"
    3. Click "Reset Permissions" under "Files and Folders"

After this my files showed in the media server on my TV.

Hope this works for you as well!
  • Thanks for the post.
Just tried that; but unfortunately when I click 'Reset Permissions I get the following error message

    "1001020001
    Code: 1001020001
    Datetime: 07:51:39 01/09/2013"

Rebooted, same error. Can't find anything about this error code anywhere :( The folders still haven't appeared for me FWIW; that said, I haven't set up or changed any permissions on the ReadyNAS yet, so might not this be a red herring?
