ive transferred over music and videos onto NAS. what i dont understand is that all folders/files are visible accessing nas via mac finder or via interent browser. BUT when i access via plex and DLNA pn both TV and PS3 all folders/files not viewable or able to be opened.

First of all, DLNA (used by plex and ReadyDLNA) is not a file sharing protocol, it is a streaming protocol. The clients (PS3 and TV in your case) decide how to present the media files, and they don't even see the folders.

You set up plex to access the right folders? And then waited for it to build its library? It has its own web interface.
  • Hi Stephen

Thanks for coming back so quickly. Sorry i dont think i was very clear, i didnt use plex to begin with. i transferred all the files over to nas and then navigated via readydlna on ps3 and tv. Because i couldnt see all the folders (but could see c. 75% of them) i tried to use plex instead.

i built the plex library but it has been really inconsistent. For example i have navigated (via folder) in the plex app on the tv and some of the files were missing. Streaming was also very slow. Plex has now disappeared from the video menu in ps3 altogether but it was very slow when i could access it via the PS3. For these reasons im not going to bother anymore with plex.

So i'm left wondering why via readydlna some of the files are missing?

Usually it means a file had some issues that caused the scan to crash.

There is a dlna debug toggle for older readynas, but I haven't seen it for OS6,
