While I highly recommend plex, I think if you get over the need for transcoding you'll be much happier. Use a beefy PC to do the transcoding to a format that won't need transcoding before copying the file to the NAS. There are only a few free/shareware tools you need on the PC to do this. I've got a pro-6 that can keep up with transcoding but I still convert anything I'll "keep" on the nas. If you do this, then the readydlna server is really good too. I convert videos to either m2ts, mp4, or mpg (mpeg2) with AC3 audio or 2CH audio and all of these seem to work with everything in my house (sony, samsung, lg). Plex is still nice if you want to drop in something you'll watch once I guess. The Ultra has an Atom processor (I think) which will struggle transcoding 1080p so if you need that you may have no choice.
