Stuck on IP 192.168.168.168

I have a ReadyNAS Ultra 4 Plus, after a recent power outage every time the NAS powers up it has the IP of 192.168.168.168.  Every other device connected to the router is working correctly.  I tried power cycling the NAS and even doing the reinstall OS option from the Boot menu but it still has the 192.168.168.168 IP.  RAIDar is able to see the NAS but I am not able to do the setup due to the incorrect IP.  How can I fix this?

192.168.168.168 is the failover address when DHCP fails.  You might check the router config and make sure that it has enough addresses to hand out.

Are you connecting both NICs on the ultra?  If so, try removing one of the cables. If not try moving the cable to the other port.

    Hello Soccerman18,

Try setting up a static IP of 192.168.168.5 on your computer first. Then you shoudl be able to acces sthe admin page of the NAS via hhttp://192.168.168.168. Once logged in, go to Network > Interfaces on the left blue panel. You should be able to see the following:

    IP assignment:

    IP address:

    Netmask:

Set IP assignment to Use Values from DHCP server, then tyoe a valid IP address that is with the same IP range of your router in the IP address field. For example, if the router is 192.168.1.1, you can set a 192.168.1.x where x being any number between 1 and 255 and not being used by any other LAN device on the network, netmask is 255.255.255.0.

Apply the changes, once it took it, you will lose the admin page. Remove the static IP address you have set on the computer, set it to Obtain IP address automatically and Obtain DNS addresses automatically.

Then try to check if you will be able to access the NAS again, this time using the new IP address you have set on the NAS - http:// <new IP address>.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

I had only one cable plugged in, tried moving it to the other port but no luck there.

I was able to set it to a static IP and now I'm able to access the drive again.  Thanks!  I'm curious though, it's been working for years getting its IP from the router, why would that suddenly stop working?

Maybe try switching back to dhcp (as Jenn suggested) and see if the problem comes back.
