The item “File Name” can’t be copied
The item “FileName” can’t be copied because it is too large for the volume's format.
What do I do now? Can I take out my B Drive format it differently, then put it back in and have the A drive back up to it? Then once its done backing up could i Then take the A drive out and format it and swap out the A for B?
Anything over 5gb doesnt work
It works when using AFP but not SMB, I have both enabled.
Side note. Im new to NAS and this product how do i tell if my files are actually being backed up between drives?

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhere is the destination disk, and how is it formatted?
If you chose FAT32 for a USB drive, then that file system can't handle files > 4GB. - patrickriley201AspirantIts working through AFP

And the internal disks in the nas two 2tb WD Red - vandermerweMasterThe files are not "backed up" between disks.
If you have a redundant xraid or raid 1 volume then effectively one disk is a mirror of the other and your data will survive a single disk failure.
This should not be seen as a backup though.
As for your file copy problem, you may get more help if you provide more information. - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserLet's start again on the copy problem.
You have a 5 GB file you are trying to copy from "here" to "there".
What device is "here", and what device is "there"? - patrickriley201Aspirant

Okay here is the issue in greater detail.
When i transfer files from my macbook pro to my readynas 102 it says file size to large. But the weird is that this isnt always the case. I only get this error when connecting to my nas via (SMB) and not through (AFP). Why is this? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI'm not sure why this isn't working with SMB.
What firmware are you running? - patrickriley201Aspirant

What do you mean as not seen as a back up? I got this to replace having two external drives that i would have to plug in and mirror my files, so i got this to do it for me. By mirroring i am just doing it for redundancy.
I have a question about it though. How do I know if drive A is really mirroring to drive B ? I dont see anything on the NAS GUI about comparing the two drives to make sure they are mirrored. To check i shut down my nas took out drive B and mounted to an external drive connector.. My computer wouldnt let me view it? What if my ready NAS goes bad and I need to get my files off? I assumed that i would just be able to unlug it from the nas and drop it into a HDD dock? Apparently not? While i was doing this i forgot to see what my drive was formatted as. Is there anyway to see via the GUI?
If its not allowing me to transfer files from my computer to my NAS under SMB but it is under AFP what does that mean? I work with Macs exclusively but i am building a windows computer soon.
Anyways are there ways to extract files off my disks mounted inside my NAS without my NAS?
