There is no media in the current folder

So, I keep getting this message when I try to browse my NAS from my WD HD TV Live. I need to browse it by folders for some of my media, since files like .img don't show up when when browsing via Media Servers. I've tried putting in valid usernames/passwords, as well as the share name as suggested in some other posts. Using the share name at least lets me get this far, I had been getting "this network share cannot be accessed" previously. Does anyone have any recommendations? I tried manually starting a DLNA scan, but since I'm going in through the folder I don't know if that's going to do anything. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Are you saying you cannot see any media at all (including AVI)? Or that you see some media but not .img? I am asking because as far as I know the WD Live doesn't support .img extensions.

Generally if you want to browse by folder, you need to use the shared network folder choice on the WD (not media file server).

-It might be easier to first access the share from a PC, and resolve any issues there first.

-If you aren't seeing any of the media files, try changing the everyone access to "read" and see if that helps.

-If you are seeing some files but not all, first check that the missing files are in fact supported by the player. If it is supported, then try going into the advanced options for the share on the NAS and adjust the permissions for all the files in the folder. Use the option
Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems.
. The group and everyone pulldowns should be set to at least read access. (You need to click apply when you have this set up).
  • The .img file is just a container, it contains regular DVD ripped files...so I'm doing the easy thing (that I just thought of) and extracting everything to a folder, so I can just play the rip files. This is the only file I've noticed doesn't show up in the media servers view, so I should be good, as long as this works.

Another option is to rename the img to iso, that usually works.
