time machine to nas disk space issue
Hi,
I have wiped NAS of data in preparation to Timemachine to use as sole backup destination. 1TB is available.
When time machine runs for 1st time I get following error but there is plenty of available space. Any ideas?
---------------------------------------
This backup is too large for the backup disk. The backup requires 586.36 GB but only 536.42 GB are available.
Time Machine needs work space on the backup disk, in addition to the space required to store backups. Open Time Machine preferences to select a larger backup disk or make the backup smaller by excluding files.

did you receive log? - StephenBGuru - Experienced User
I've received PM's ok before. I suspect you haven't done enough posts yet to have urls enabled (new anti-spam measure).barkpro wrote: PM'd to mdgm. PM to Stephen B fails - You cannot use certain BBCodes: [url]. - barkproAspirantpm to mdgm looks like was OK.
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes I received it. The sparsebundle is still set to a capacity of 500GB. Could you do a reboot via System > Shutdown with a quota check?

Well, he's the right guy to be talking with...barkpro wrote: pm to mdgm looks like was OK.
Not sure what is happening on the PM though. Maybe the posting permissions are different when sending to mods? I'm not seeing any settings in the user control panel that relate to bbcodes. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAlso have you tried deleting the sparsebundle and doing a fresh Time machine backup? Since only 446MB is used you may as well delete the sparsebundle image
