Time Machine using OSX Mavericks
Update: Please check you are running new enough firmware first: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=409701#p409701
Hello there,
I have a Macbook Air running OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) backing with Time Machine to my Readynas Ultra (x86). Everything works, no issues. I also have a development laptop running the latest developer build of Mavericks (dp8) and on this machine, I can't get Time Machine to work. The laptop sees the Time Machine shares over AFP and I can browse the entire contents of the Readynas through Finder. When I open the Time Machine application and hit "select disk," it recognizes the ReadyNas Time Machine share and offers it as a backup option. But when I click the share, it says "connecting" and then I get the following error message: "There was a problem connecting to the server 'XYZ.' The server may not exist or is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again."
Any thoughts?
Does anyone out there have a Mavericks machine backing up through Time Machine to an x86 ReadyNas?

It's possible some fixes for Mavericks compatibility might be needed. However if there are such issues they would likely be addressed in a firmware update sometime after the production version of Mavericks is released. - sevilabearAspirantHi mdgm,
Thanks for your reply. It's running 4.2.23. I'm updating it right now -- will report back if the problem persists. - sevilabearAspirantThe problem persists. I'm now running 4.2.24 and have the exact same problem. No issues on OSX 10.8; but can't connect on OSX 10.9.
Anyone else encountered the same problem and/or know a solution? I'd rather not wait till November for a fix, if possible. Thanks in advance. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThere is a minor update to Time Machine support in 4.2.25 beta: http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=70385
If you have an up to date backup you could try that if you like, but I wouldn't expect it to resolve the issue. - kanseiAspirantNow that the GM of Mavericks is out, I figured I'd give this beta build of the ReadyNAS software a try. It doesn't seem to fix the issue.
- mackinraAspirantI'm also experiencing the exact same problem with Mavericks (build 13A584) and my ReadyNAS NV+ (Sparc) running latest 4.1.12 firmware. Hope there's a Raidiator update soon for this.
- I have the exact same problem when running Mavericks GM release. Please fix this as soon as possible... my system running without backup now...
- evandsAspirantJust adding my voice - problem confirmed on Mavericks GM (build 13A598) with my ReadyNAS NV+.
- The problem is still there in 6.1.3 also... damn.
- SkywalkerNETGEAR ExpertWe've got a set of new releases coming out soon to address this. There are now RC releases available for 4.1.x, 4.2.x, and 6.1.x firmware (viewforum.php?f=54).
