Trasmission is slow..... and port is closed!

good Morning,
I have a RN10200 that works great as a media center, but I wanted to use it for torrents.
I installed Transmission, but it is very slow and the port used is always closed. How do I authorize a port?
Thank you.

Giulio.

First you would need to set a static I.P. for the NAS. Under Network in the Dashboard you should see the MAC address that you need to port forward to. On your router there should be a static I.P. address list or a reserved I.P. address list.

You could open the port by port forwarding to the ReadyNAS in your router's configuration.

Note that each of these changes may not take effect till after you have rebooted your router.
  • Just a quick note to say check the DNS settings, my NAS lost them......probably due to an OS reinstall, Transmission was very slow and the port was marked as closed, even though internet tests said it was open, turned out just to be the DNS settings not present, of course DHCP from the router should set that ok, but still
