Turning off the redundant option for more disk space
I have two 1TB drives in my Ready NAS Duo. Is it possible to combine the drives so it is 2TB and no mirroring?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYes but the disks will need to be wiped to do this. If one disk fails all data lost so better to create 2x1TB volumes so if one disk fails only the volume on that disk will be lost.
See Configuring Your ReadyNAS for Flex-RAID - rboyd13AspirantThank you mdgm for your reply. I noticed in the article you linked you me too, that it mentioned this was only possible with a ReadyNAS of atleast 4 bays. I have the readyNAS Duo with 2 bays. Am I out of luck or is there still hope to achieve this?
- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's fine with the Duo. When referring to NAS units with four bays it would be referring to RAID levels like RAID-5 that require more than two disks (note the *s at end of lines that refer to comments like the one you mentioned)
Setting up two single disk RAID-0 volumes works fine on the Duo. - rboyd13AspirantThank you tons for your help. Everything worked out great, thank you again mdgm!
